Title: CryEngine3 + Rigs of Rods Soft Body Physics.. Can we do better?
Post by: ZeosPantera on May 28, 2012, 10:07:49 pm
Revolutionary soft-body physics in CryEngine3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KppTmsNFneg#ws)

I remember you saying something like this not being possible in Outerra.. But if bullet is constantly being developed I figured I would ask again.

lol It's like my pickup (though maybe a little too "soft").  I thought it was gonna fall apart into all its separate pieces today.

I think Bullet has something for soft body physics already, though I guess it would be different from this. The problem here is that there's lots of collision checking and deformation computation, that should really be done on the GPU. But the collision part is problematic to get on the GPU, and CPU/GPU combination suffers from latency between the two.

I didn't give many thoughts to it, however. Been talking with those guys but we couldn't come to terms. Actually, I'm glad they have found their way :)

All in due time Cameni.. all in due time.

I wouldn't say "better" but "comparably reasonable".
Of course my total lack of technical knowledge and the like makes me oblivious to that, but...

OH WELL.
