You're going to post these update on MODDB right? We will be posting only the media - the videos and screenshots, but not news articles.
Something i came out with by playing around with the environment settings in the demo :) this happened accidentally when I turned all the atmospheric scattering sliders (or whatever they are called^^) down to zero. I was quite amazed - this is, what our sky would look like, once we got rid of our nice atmosphere... remembers me of the moon ;)

Outerra Shenanigans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHQdllTxGfI#ws)
I'm not really sure if this is the right topic, but I made a silly video of me ramping the truck off the side of the Grand Canyon. It's also set to "The Final Countdown" by Europe for extra silliness!
My only regret is that Sony Vegas wouldn't render it in anything other than .wmv, so it's not very high quality.

Outerra A Classic, A Tumbler and a Tank (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSjf6Su1Yuw#)
Still not viewable in the states because of my music choices. I will try to fix.

One thing I have been wondering lately and is likely something developer can only answer, is are you guys planning to use more optimized API such as Mantle or even OpenGL NG (when its out)?We have always been using OpenGL "AZDO" (http://www.slideshare.net/CassEveritt/approaching-zero-driver-overhead) techniques, Mantle would not be such a great benefit for OT. Here's an earlier discussion about it: http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=2503.msg26496#msg26496 (http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=2503.msg26496#msg26496)
In the meanwhile, here's one for you, Acetone!

Having finally for the most part eliminated recording stutters, here's a full tour Of Acetones Talkeetna! ;)Well done. Every thing looks amazing.
Reddited the shite out of that http://www.reddit.com/r/Outerra/comments/2gfkqh/a_tour_of_talkeetna_by_hiflyer/ (http://www.reddit.com/r/Outerra/comments/2gfkqh/a_tour_of_talkeetna_by_hiflyer/)
Next time I recommend some dramatic music. Propellers for 10 minutes is not the best way to invite viewers!
It's a nice video of realistic cessna ride with take off and landing.
You're lucky that it didn't stutter, you have a warning half way in the video. Also the video is limited to 720p, did you set it up that way? When i send mine, youtube makes versions up to 1440p though there's no noticable difference between 1080p and 1440p.
Your approach seems to work well so far. On my side, i 'm getting a usb3 stick (sandisk extreme 64gig) It supposetly the fastest stick to write. We'll see if its fast enough.

Another intersting thing from YouTube analytics is that not a single one of those people was a woman......... :-*

Let us know how it goes!
And by the way, looking more closely, you're right, it was also a video buffer warning. :P
The video seems stretched quite a bit horizontally. Did something go wrong in the youtube conversion?
Inland water bodies aren't modeled/included in Outerra yet.

Yeh but there has to be some code that allows for water inland... go look at the dead sea...
Inland lakes are possible as long as the alt is below sea level... therefore it's got to be possible to trick the system into thinking that this piece of land has metadata that says it's height is below sea level and initiate the water code..

The dead sea is below sea level....at the moment, any area at or below sea level is rendered as water. Inland water (lakes) is coming, but it's not there yet.
Do we have any updates on Lakes/Rivers/Water level implementation yet? It seems like that front has been fairly quiet for awhile now.
Merry Christmas to allMerry Christmas!
Have yall seen this video?
Yeah yeah.... You were just getting kinda sketchy there....
Yup. Just saying that two tall buildings and a big airplane is a sensitive subject for many people around the world, and people can get excited without offering you a chance to clarify things.
Just to show how some feel, I was in New York this summer as a large plane came very low over the city. I didn't think a thing about it and was talking to a friend, when I suddenly realized something was wrong. Looking around, I saw that everyone in sight: hundreds of people on both sides of the street as far as the eye could see had stopped and were frozen in place, looking up.
It was the first time I realized just how deeply traumatized the whole city was, even though 99% of the time you would never guess it.
Moving on........
I want to do a video showing some of the latest stuff, but every two seconds, theres another release!!! :o =D
Its always a good thing to keep your potential audiences reactions in mind, when something might be sensitive.
What do you think this is? Just Cause?...
New Nvidia drivers (384.xx) broke our road/river rendering, but it also does these magic terrain material blends (yellow road paint there).https://twitter.com/cameni/status/882876193263038464
First phase of getting lakes into #outerra - using a global water mask to form the lake beds. Also able to use lake bathymetry if available(http://i.imgur.com/GV6urDt.jpg)
These algorithmically created lake beds are close to the sea level and they fill with sea water.(http://i.imgur.com/rsJ9IJS.jpg)
Obviously the algo needs more work, sometimes it produces lake beds that are way too deep though interesting(http://i.imgur.com/lh3Jah8.jpg)
It also interferes with existing rivers and temporary lakes created from rivers.(http://i.imgur.com/9NMSQBU.jpg)
