Seems there's a problem with DNS.
Try downloading the patch from here: Anteworld-0.8.2.4725.patch-4853.exe (http://planet.anteworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/Anteworld-0.8.2.4725.patch-4853.exe)
After installing the patch above I load up the engine and it only shows black. No log in screen, no game... just black. It only happened after the patch install to try and fix their being no auto updating. I uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't fix it. Little help?

You might want to give your system specs.
They will probably also ask you to check your Eng.log

Here is the .log

Are you using a notebook?

Laptop, yes. I have an HP Envy 17. It ran before extremely well (30-60FPS depending on region) and runs all other games well too. No problems until I did that fix.

Well, now when they check this, at least they will probably have enough info to help you. Good luck.

Thanks. Also, I should note the black screen didn't go away with closing Steam as listed in the graphic driver issues post.
-
Could you try a newer/different driver version? Seems the program exits right after some shader compilation.
-
This seems to be a problem of old Nvidia 331.65 drivers. Please update your drivers, we'll be adding a check & warn about them.
-
I am on the latest driver set but it still loads only black. :-\
-
Please upload new eng.log

Here you go. Something else I just noticed it that the curser when I move it over the black screen changes as if their is something there but their is nothing to click. Example, it will change to the text "I" when over where text was and will change to the pointer finger over where buttons were.

Resolution out of range? :P
Remind's me of something that occasionally happened on my old CRT when something was trying to display in a range the monitor couldn't handle.
-
OpenGL driver version: 9.18.13.3165 (nvoglv32.dll)
That's still 331.65 driver.

Well, good news is I got the drivers updated and the screen shows as it should. Bad news is that now I'm stuck in a loop when I try to launch the game by clicking log in, it says "Downloading new version" and shows the download bar at the bottom of the screen. Then command prompt opens, says waiting for initial process tree to end with a series of numbers, Update ...\anteworld-0.8.3.4853.patch-4161.exe, update successful, then relaunches outerra only to have me do the same thing again...
-
Looks as if it cannot update the files. What's your UAC setting?
-
Hello,
I also had this problem, and managed to fix it. I had to copy/paste the patch.exe before it was deleted by the updater. It is downloading to Users\<USER>\Outerra\update\appdata Just have to run Outerra.exe and let it download the patch, and then Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V the file as soon as it finishes downloading and before it is deleted. It took me a couple tries.
Now that you have the patch copy, you can go into Program Files(x86)\Outerra and delete outerra.exe.
Running the patch.exe will now actually complete and you can run the game.

Ok, I found that even though the patches are marked to require admin level, the updater itself wasn't, and so it wasn't able to update some files in Program Files, for people using UAC.
