Hi,
does this engine support interleaved stereo mode ? This is the only thing that keeps me from buying the alpha , in the demo there is only a side by side mode and for some reason it's extremely zoomed in when activated
thanks
-
Interleaved mode is not yet supported, only the old test implementation had it but I had to reimplement it for the Rift. I have to implement top-bottom mode for it first.
Did you try lowering the FOV? Hmm, but in the stereoscopic mode the FOV is probably computed from the special parameters in eng.cfg (screen_size and eye_to_screen physical sizes), I'll have to change it to a normal mode when the Rift is not detected.

Well , i still purchased the Alpha because i had so much fun flying around even in 2D , but i'm really really looking forward to interleaved mode. I'll have a look in the engine config file and try to fix the fov for the SBS mode , but unfortunately when i use SBS and my 3DTV's 3D mode there is a lot of input lag , interleaved would be amazing
Thanks

Something is very wrong with SBS , it should be two 1080p images stretched vertically side by side , but instead it only splits the 2D 1080p image in two making a 3D image out of it , hence the 2x zoom and really bad 3d , a 540p crop stretched to a 1080p resolution , it's horrible !
i'm going to play around with the values and see if i can make it work properly but so far it only seem to increase the FOV without correcting the issue
This is something we have to fix , this engine is begging to be experienced in 3D , we absolutely need interleaved 3D and key bindings to adjust the separation and depth in real time would be nice !

Anyways i can't figure out which value to change in the cfg , the footage that you have on Youtube is perfect , so i'm sure you know what you are doing , lets hope for an update soon
thanks

Yea it's half-SBS, in OpenGL we actually can't output full SBS on consumer level cards, because both Nvidia and AMD reserve that for the professional line of cards, unlike in DirectX.
Obviously, using half-SBS for horizontally interleaved stereo is terrible then.

As long as it looks this good :
Early test of direct stereoscopic rendering in Outerra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r86P0dr3R4o#ws)
This should be fine , it looks amazing ! This is not what the game looks like right now in stereo.
Interleaved is fine even with half SBS , in fact it will be even better as it will work without having to put the TV in 3D mode
Good luck

Here , i made some examples of what i think would be perfect 3D , if you have a 1080p passive monitor you can view the interleaved picture in fullscreen without any software

I need to fix the reflections in stereo.

Interleaved mode for 3D passive monitors is now supported in the latest build (3737)

Absolutely incredible ...
Many thanks , however with my television the stereo is inverted !
is there a possibility to invert the stereo within the cfg ?
this is fantastic !
-
Yep, I have inverted stereo too, have to wear glasses upside down :)

haha !
if your television lets you adjust the position pixels by pixels shift your position 1 pixel vertically
mine doesn't have those adjustments unfortunately
for now i have tried with under and over with my television and the 3D is breathtaking.. i absolutely can't wait for the consumer version of the rift and play around with this engine
Fantastic work again cameni

Ah damn, I knew it :)
I will have to add an invert option.

no problem , meanwhile here i am making new tree textures :P

Nice.

Just tested the new version with an inverted option and convergence adjustement , simply amazing !
Many thanks !
