Billboard to 3D Trees Question

Devs,
I know it is on your roadmap, but is there a way to use SpeedTree or maybe set the tree render to use 3d Models at XXXm distance? I get really weird anomalies when using a vehicle like a helicopter and looking down at a forest. The trees make a circle based on my POV point. I know there are some 3d trees in the library of objects and wonder if there was a way to force the placement of those models in place of billboards.

It's not possible. Tree billboards are rendered using a special shader and a special mode that can draw them fast, replacing them with a normal object rendering would make it many times slower ...
