Title: MiG 29 Fulcrum video
Post by: cameni on April 29, 2013, 06:13:06 am
Angrypig's video with the newly added MiG aircraft.

MiG29 - Fulcrum in Outerra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVoNMhH_j3Y#ws)

The aircraft was donated by our partner company, but it was actually modeled by Denis Krupin (ddenn), along with the flight model in JSBSim. Denis did a great job with it!
Some of the instruments work there too: airspeed, attitude (partly) and altitude indication, engine N1.

Great looking model! Awesome work on the exterior and the Virtual Cockpit.

It is in dire need of some sweet afterburner flames.

Brano, OT really needed a jet bad, and the MiG-29 is one of my favorites.  There's nothing like zipping over terrain at insane speeds and low altitude.

Is this only available in the latest beta builds?

Amazing job on the jet, Denis.  Major respects here!  Really gives me eagerness to get my own jet into OT.  But I need to learn how to get data out of JSBSim for my cockpit first..... so much to do, so little time, and only one of me!

Yes it's included in the installer of the latest update.

The MiG29 is good, but I find he has too much Rolling in the horizontal axis.
 Looks a little unrealistic. :-\

Thanks for MiG, Denis. ;)

Amazing video, great model...this is what Outerra needed yes. It feels great to fly in a real scale world! Without having any map or anything I knew where my custom airport was all the time. The sense of direction+immersion feels incredible.

Nice!

I noticed at the end of the video the pilot's head was moving.  Are you going to be doing a showcase on character animations or something of the like in the next while?

Congrates Denis. You have done really nice job. Brano it would be really nice if the head movement  is 6 Dof inside cockpit. Do TrackIR and FacetrakNoir are supported?

Looking at FaceTrackNOIR integration http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=308.msg18900#msg18900 (http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=308.msg18900#msg18900)

Hi,

Which key did you use to open the canopy?

It opens automatically when the plane is near stationary and the flaps are deployed

Cameni, how would the engine bear with the more advaced systems on a plane?
The flight computers of a 737 or the ILS Autoland System of an Airbus?

Well, it has nothing to do with the rendering engine itself, it's a separate system. Actually, in Outerra there are more CPU resources left free for the simulation, so I guess it can only be better than in CPU-intensive engines like FSX.

So if someone was, lets say, to make a fully functional 737 in Anteworld, would it work and how would the systems be scripted? Also, do emmission textures light up nearby objects? I mean is the light projected off the texture?

In theory it could be run in the script, but in practice it would be necessary to implement an interface for system simulation allowing to run the simulation in a separate thread, not affecting the main loop.
Emission textures do not light up the nearby objects yet, multiple lights in general aren't supported yet.

Thanks, I think some FSx plane developers (freeware) have their source files available to public. An airliner in Outerra would look cool.

+1

Is DDenn the same person that created the planes below?
