Title: Open world success and failure - FUEL
Post by: KelvinNZ on May 28, 2013, 05:38:04 pm
Ok, I realise this is a resurrected topic but through the video below I want to highlight some potential successes with Outerra which would be called "over ambition" when it came to a game called FUEL.

By looking at the video below (review from some guy included) of FUEL game we can see that this game is single faceted with really only a racing genre in mind with an exception for some 3rd party mods making it a little more bearable.

This is what I see Outerra can do to fill the gap in terms of making a world that is multi-faceted. Watching this video gives me all the excitement I need to help me believe that Outerra can be a much more widely accepted platform for both gaming and simulation.

I just wanted to really emphasize what we all (or most of us here) believe anyway but try to inject some more faith in what Outerra will offer in the future.

If nothing else this is a good watch!

<3 Fuel  I'm one of the very few to legitimately get the Platinum without cheating.   ;D  Insanely hard, and took an insanely long time.  I wish they hadn't used rubberbanding AI...  ::)

The main thing that actually killed its community is that its multiplayer system was rather poorly done, but I still think people judged it too harshly.  If you can get passed it's multiplayer quirks (especially on console), it's a lot of fun with friends.

Would have been a great engine to resurrect Insterstate76 on.. That game in 1997 had HUGE maps.. Miles and miles you had to drive in a strait line. One of the reasons I would like to see an I76 mod for Outerra. The ultimate definition of "Somewhere in the Southwest"

It is even cool in GERMAN!

I guess you dont need a mod. This "mod" is immediately available when the osm plugin works. Even it will have better graphics ;D
