Title: Update loop...
Post by: MentalParadox on August 10, 2013, 07:44:57 pm
Hey there,

I installed the alpha on both my desktop and my laptop. The one on the desktop works fine, but on my laptop I'm stuck in an update loop. When I click "demo mode" and then "enter", it goes "checking for new version", then "downloading new version". It ends the process, and reboots to the "login/demo mode" screen.

I heard this could be because the program fails to terminate the old outerra process, but I only detected a single "outerra" in my process list. Any tips?

This may be because of a high UAC level in Windows and/or the selected program or data install directory, to which the updater or outerra.exe doesn't have write access. You may lower the UAC level, or reinstall the program into different folders.

Yes, that solved it! Turns out the account I was using didn't have permission to write to C drive.

Thanks!
