Title: startup error : your amd graphics drivers are outdated
Post by: charrington on September 27, 2014, 09:41:43 pm
it says I need "catalyst 13.12 and newer" but the AMD installer says I am up to date

Driver Packaging Version: 13.152.4-130928a-163380C-Retail
I have a FirePro V5900

I had successfully installed Outerra last year.

What happens when you let it continue? Pro cards use different versions, I guess the check does not work correctly with them. Please post your eng.log so we can see what gets detected there.

That was the issue - the autochecker doesn't work with my card. I installed the latest driver and now Outerra works. But it works poorly. There are rectangular slices which aren't rendering - about 30px tall and 100px wide. They occupy between  20% and 80% of the screen, depending on what I'm viewing.

Seems like artifacts from shadows. Older AMD drivers had a similar bug, and if we detect that version of customer drivers we simply disable shadows and display a warning that that version has this known bug. Seems the pro drivers lag somewhat behind.
