Title: Request Higher Quality Sound Files
Post by: ZeosPantera on March 02, 2012, 05:25:59 am
Didn't do much poking around until this whole dataset download thing became an issue. But I found the very obvious "sounds" folder and if my checking is correct these are all 96kbps ogg files. I know that format is limited as far as kbps but for a game that will likely take up a dozen gigs I think we could all take a 100 meg hit for super high quality in-game sounds.

I recently changed out the 96kbps ogg sound files in minecraft for rain and thunder with the highest possible quality ogg (only 192) but I pulled the sounds from lossless wav's and my word the difference it made.

Here is a video of the results. (watch in HD for best sound quality from Youtube)

Can the engine support any other type of sound file? pure wav or Flac? Will it support 48,000Hz ogg's?

I could not believe it but IL2 CloD is a good example for really cool engine sounds!
