Title: World Biomes and Ecosystems
Post by: KelvinNZ on April 14, 2012, 06:09:25 am
Hi Cameni,

I have research a number of sites that I think could help with your integration of biomes and ecosystems for your procedural generators. I would hope that some of this could be used somehow to be used in Outerra.

A lot of work indeed. I love this planet, just so much to it. And that's just earth.

Not sure if the below refines OT elevation data as it stands but i will add it anyway.

I think it's important to add several World Biomes already on the ground and vegetation , for example is that the Grand Canyon of red rock is  and not gray as it is now.It would also ensure that the world would be more real and different from vegetation-zone to vegetation-zone.
I'm looking forward to the results. :D

Is something like this planned?
Would appreciate an answer.

Yes, yes it is. Just have to get the basic engine stable enough to start shopping for a million tree and plant models. And who is going to make the 40,000 ground textures we will need? Sand, Sand and Shale, Sand and Pink Limestone, Dirt with gravel, Jungle floor!

Maybe voluntary  can create and deploy the textures and make them publicly or they are taken from a free-database.
are certainly better ideas .. but I know no more :D
