why not render with a minimum lighting during night ?

Will be, but needs HDR implementation with gray output in low light.

By the way, if applied carefully, HDR has the potential to create beautiful day-night worlds;
I even think about surreal or too colorful alien worlds/planets as I'm a Sci-Fi fan...
