after quitting the process is still running scoffing 17% of a 6 core cpu
-
Please attach eng.log
-
dunno what you did but it quits ok now. :)
-
i spoke too soon..:( it's still hanging around after quitting
-
when altering the gfx settings i get a cmd window with "waiting for the original process (4984) to end)..." i presume it's the same problem and presume that because no one else has said that it keeps running after quitting that something is wrong with my system. everything else works fine though...hmm
-
The eng.log you have attached to the original post (I've noticed it only later) is from the 3089 build. Can you attach one from the latest 3100 build? There were some additional log messages added there.

last run log

There's one error with sound card, what chip/model it is? Can you update the sound card drivers?
-
i am using the hdmi output from a ati 6970...grrr bloody amd cant make drivers that work...
-
i ren it without any sound card and it's still running after quitting
-
I'm getting that too, now with ATI 12.6 drivers.
Every thread exits correctly except for the main one, which loops somewhere in the driver for unknown reason. Seems to be a driver bug.
-
yeh, bloody ati and their broken drivers strike again. fix one thing break 20
-
It happened to me once also. I have closed Outerra, but the proces was still running in the background and consuming some CPU and probably GPU power, because the GPU fan was still running faster like under stress.
I'm using Catalyst 12.4 & Radeon 3870.
If I encounter it again, I will copy the eng.log from that session. ;)
-
If the eng.log ends like this:
DEBUG: destroying buffer "ui_buffer"...
DEBUG: destroying buffer "ub.gpu_frame_state"...
INFO: Exiting renderer thread...
DEBUG: (io_man) event group "player" has been deactivated...
.. then it's the same thing - all threads gone except the main one that loops in the driver somewhere.
-
Im still running on 12.4 because 12.6 doesn't say it is for the 4XXX series.
