Title: Outerra Video Converter GUI [0.2.0]
Post by: lookastdu on July 26, 2012, 06:22:38 pm
I would like to present my GUI for Outerra's video converter. :)
Currently it gives you only basic functionality, but I'm planning some improvements.

Installation:
Copy Outerra Video Converter GUI.exe and Qt .dll's from rar to the folder, where you have original video converter binaries (conv.bat is also needed).

Additional info:
You can select multiple entries on list using Ctrl as well as Shift.
Clicking properties button is pointless as yet. Abort button is also still useless. :P

0.2.0 changelog:
Code: [Select]
New features:
- Converted videos now are having green background on list
- App is asking if you want to exit during closing it if on the list there are still unconverted files
Bugfixes:
- Now you can use "Run all" or select more than 1 file and use "Run selected"

When you say video converter binaries can you post an example link?(H264?). I haven't done any command line encoding so I am not sure at all what I am doing.

Download ffmpeg-yog.zip (http://www.outerra.com/video/ffmpeg-yog.zip) and unpack it into your video folder. The folder where the yog videos are created is by default in your outerra data dir /videos.

Next version will be automatically launched when there are some unprocessed yog videos there, after you quit OT.

Wow, thanks for creating tools & utilities section. :)
Also I improved my app a little bit. It seems that now running more than one file is working. I will probably publish next version soon.

Have you downloaded the converter binaries too? ffmpeg-yog.zip (http://www.outerra.com/video/ffmpeg-yog.zip)
The UI depends on them, it should emit a warning when it can't find them, with a link.

IThis one?

"To convert the captured videos from YOG format to MPEG4 or MJPEG formats, please download conversion tool:
http://www.outerra.com/video/ffmpeg-yog.zip (http://www.outerra.com/video/ffmpeg-yog.zip)

The tool is based on FFMPEG video/audio encoder, compiled with support for YOG videos. Description of the tool can be found at www.outerra.com/video/ (http://www.outerra.com/video/)

To convert a captured YOG video, unpack the tool and run one of the bat files in command window with the following arguments:

  conv.bat <video_file>.yog <output_file>.avi

  conv4edit.bat <video_file>.yog <output_file>.avi

conv.bat converts to highly compressed MPEG4 format, suitable for uploading to YouTube.
conv4edit.bat converts to Motion-JPEG format, suitable for further editing of the video.

Conversion tools also convert captured audio. Outerra normally captures the active audio input; to record pure sound from the game you need to set the input to stereo mix."

As always I hate command line.

The wav is right there in the directory next to the yog.

EDIT. The number in this image was off. but even corrected I get the same error

You seem to have an old version of the bat files, ones that didn't handle paths right. Please download it again, it was fixed in mean time.

Followed it to the letter. I go to add a file and nothing happens. Dialog closes and nothing. Started from scratch so I know it is all updated and installed correctly.

So maybe try my debug version:
http://wyslijto.pl/files/download/rb10xh87q5 (http://wyslijto.pl/files/download/rb10xh87q5)
Then try to convert file following tutorial. The debug version has console, so maybe it will show something interesting.

I am downloading that file.. That is the worst file host EVER. Not just because it is in another language. But It took 6 minutes to bring up the file save window and has taken 10 minutes to download 1.2mb which is about 30% and now appears stuck. www.Mediafire.com (http://www.Mediafire.com) is a better alternative.

Weird, few hours ago it was working very fast, but now even loading download page is taking a lot of time...
Sorry about this, here I uploaded it to gamefront: http://www.gamefront.com/files/22406602/dbg.rar (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22406602/dbg.rar)

This is the first time I can see this type of error.
I suggest to try this: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cesardelatorre/archive/2011/03/27/the-application-has-failed-to-start-because-its-side-by-side-configuration-is-incorrect-error-related-to-mmc-exe-programs-and-weird-cause-amp-simple-solution.aspx (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cesardelatorre/archive/2011/03/27/the-application-has-failed-to-start-because-its-side-by-side-configuration-is-incorrect-error-related-to-mmc-exe-programs-and-weird-cause-amp-simple-solution.aspx)

But in the release compilation (that "official" one) you were able to see main window, yes? I'm asking because I suppose that to run debug version maybe you need some Visual Studio files (google was saying something about VC++ redistributable packages).

Yes, the original release opened fine but couldn't open any files.

Debug versions won't work without debug runtimes, Zeos would have to install C#. Perhaps it would be simpler to add some logging into the release version ...

I am having the same problem as ZEOS, program runs fine, I am able to select the .yog files but NOTHING appears in the window. I wonder ZEOS, r u using windows 7 64 bit, I am

So as an alternative to those who can't get this program to work. Here is how I convert them now

Change the convert4edit.bat

From

set fn=%~dpn1
set fnw=%fn%.wav

ffmpeg.exe -i %fnw% -i %1 -map 1:0 -map 0:0 -vcodec mjpeg -qscale 1 -acodec ac3 -ab 192k %1

to

set fn=%~dpn1
set fnw=%fn%.wav

ffmpeg.exe -i %fnw% -i %1 -map 1:0 -map 0:0 -vcodec mjpeg -qscale 1 -acodec ac3 -ab 192k %1.avi

Now just drag and drop a .YOG file ONTO THE convert4edit.bat file and VIOLA , it will Convert it

When I say DROP and DRAG , I am talking in windows, no need to go to command line

Post by: mustang60348 on December 01, 2012, 03:59:30 pm
OR if you want to drop and drag multiple files change it to this

set fn=%~dpn1
set fnw=%fn%.wav

@echo on
if [%1]==[] goto :eof
:loop

ffmpeg.exe -i %fnw% -i %1 -map 1:0 -map 0:0 -vcodec mjpeg -qscale 1 -acodec ac3 -ab 192k %1.avi
shift
if not [%1]==[] goto loop

Yes I am.. Now to read your other 2 replies.

Nope. Something is still up. I get the cmd prompt popup for a sec and....  Will it give me an output dir or do I have to edit the .bat?
Title: Re: Outerra Video Converter GUI [0.2.0]
Post by: mustang60348 on December 01, 2012, 09:38:55 pm
It should put the .avi files in the same directory as the input files

Just re-read your reply. You have to change the bat file to WHAT I typed in that last reply

Yeah I changed the code. Dragging a YOG in there doesn't convert it. Is there anything else I have to install? Would OLD yog files not work?

Does the Command window come up, and are you dragging the files ON TOP OF THE BATCH FILE.

Do the Yogs need to be in the same directory as the Converter? Because that might be what is up.

One Sec.

OK.. Got it to convert one of the yogs.. But wouldn't do the second one.

I will test further. Also the one it did convert was 7 seconds long apparently but the yog is 300+ megs. I have to go back and check what is going on or record some new ones for testing.

I guess we'll have to add a simple GUI for the video conversion into Outerra directly.

In the meantime, unpacking ffmpeg-yog.zip (http://www.outerra.com/video/ffmpeg-yog.zip) into outerra/videos folder and then invoking the conversion by dragging and dropping the yog video file onto the conv.bat will start the conversion process, resulting in avi file.

Try this link: http://minus.com/lNEXkdJDzxv4O (http://minus.com/lNEXkdJDzxv4O)

As for other recording software, I havn't tried fraps but Open Broadcaster Software works, but it only works if you start recording before you start the game. You can't start recording while the game is already running or the game crashes.
