One of my favorite tech writers, John Dvorak, points out what should be obvious as well as only he can: in a time of economic downturn, when many millions are suffering and a substantial number of them are starving, bragging about your decadent and expensive lifestyles that you didn't earn is the equivalent of painting targets on your backs.
