Hi all,
I have always been a little distracted by the washed out effect on some of the textures in Outerra which happen as a result of both time of day but more importantly due to the texture itself.
I have re-colourised and tweaked the textures and added a couple of my own to try to bring out the environment a little more. Nothing against Brano's textures as i'm sure he just used them so he could actually get some textures into the engine.
If you like this new look (until the Biomes are done) then let me know and i'll upload them zipped so you all can try them for yourselves. So without further delay, here you are;

I like the sand change a lot. Looks much more sunny and tropical. The grass seems to have to much of a pattern repeat but like the color change.
-
Yeah the sand was my favourite part. The grass is actually a photo I used from my back yard and recoloured slightly, it does have a slight tiling issue but i'm tweaking that as I go and it's getting better. I will try to tidy the grass texture a little more and come back.

Well the first thing you have to remember about Outerra is Cameni and Angry are not modelers, Texture artists or Sound editors.. They are damn fine Code Jockeys. So everything in here has the ability to be improved beyond all these place holders by people dedicated to a genre.

There's a tool to use on terrain textures that suppresses tiling in the distance, a highpass filter (http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=432.msg5239#msg5239).
Without it it's very hard to get rid of the tiling, while also keeping the detail in the textures.
-
Thanks, Brano! I have tried to get rid of the tiling as best I can at this point. If anyone would like to try these textures out follow the link below. Feel free to try them out and throw me some feedback.

Those are the lines going North to South that I pointed out a while ago. They aren't really there going East to West, though... Just N to S.

The link to the filter doesn't work anymore, can it be downloaded from somewhere else?

That link (http://www.outerra.com/tools/atlas/mipfix.zip) still works for me, but I have put it also on gdrive (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2spgr2B2dvNVld6a2xpU2NtUlE/edit) now.

Thanks! I meant that link is broken, to one of forum posts - http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=432.msg5239#msg5239 (http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=432.msg5239#msg5239) . It gives me
"An Error Has Occurred!

Oh I see. It was on the old beta board that I have hidden some time ago ...
