Post by: CausticFlamingo on March 17, 2013, 04:30:39 pm
I am verry interested in rigging and importing vehicles but i don't know anything about rigging or any of that (other than making a few scenes in blender a few years back)
I haave a few models picked out but i dont know where to go from there.

I could make a small tutorial. Tough, I don't about some ingame mechanics work yet. I will try later to make a thread which each step to bring a vehicle from blender to outerra.

I don't know if this would be any help, but I did a quick video of how to get a simple vehicle from Sketchup into Outerra. There's no sound, but it should be pretty simple to follow.

The main points are:

Each wheel should be a separate component.
All wheel components should be grouped under a single other component.
Each wheel's axis should be aligned to Sketchup's own axis.

The script (of which I understand very little) is a direct copy from Luishi5k0's Extreme buggy (cos its super simple) and then just adjust the wheel height to match the model.

Hope its helpful to some people.

The video you posted is about sketchup, not blender.

That'd be me being an idiot and not typing what I meant. Thanks for the spot. I've changed my post now :)
