Title: Earth data sets
Post by: Obscurity on November 05, 2010, 05:11:17 pm
I thought I could gather some data sets I've come across that might be of interest to you.
I don't know if you already know about these, or if you have access to better ones and I havn't used them myself, save for the NASA blue marble, so I can't exactly say of what use they are. But anyway they might be of use for someone lurking this forum.

Land usage/land type (http://www.ral.ucar.edu/research/land/technology/lsm/sfc_fields/USGS/)

Collection of earth data sets (http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/main.home)

Blue marble next generation (http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view_set.php?categoryID=2355)

Also: Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I have been lurking unregistered for a while and was active on the Infinity: Quest for Earth (http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/) forum earlier. I have been interested in planet renderers, simulators and innovating game engine techniques and I'm very happy I bumped into your project. Good luck on the progress!

Thanks for the links, I didn't know the first one.
Here are some other collections of data sets:

MODIS Data Sets (https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/lpdaac/products/modis_products_table)

Natural Earth Data Sets (http://www.naturalearthdata.com/features/)

Thanks for the kind words!
