I searched and found a topic from about 3 years ago about this, but has someone created an IRC channel about Outerra yet? I know it's kind of a young project still and an IRC channel could possibly divert attention away from the forum, but it seems like an IRC channel would be a good addition for a bit more up to the minute support.
Apologies if this has already been posted, I'm a fairly recent adopter and haven't been around there forums much.

Well I am not against it. I have a ventrilo up that I don't mind guests stopping by to talk OT. The Twitter account, the G+, facebook the subreddit I manage.
Everything but an IRC.

Me, i'd really like an IRC channel. I could create an unofficial channel, but i know only freenode, and closed source software is ot there. What would you suggest? QuakeNet, GamesNet,...?

I'm with you there. I'd make one, but I think it'd be best off getting started by a mod here or someone official. Also I don't know too much about starting them...
As for networks, Freenode or Quakenet get my vote.

Ok, so i've looked a bit into QuakeNet, and I'm currently in #outerra-unofficial. To register a channel it must have at least 3 users, so if you're intested, show yourself!
p.s. #outerra-unofficial is too long. do you have a better idea for a name?

Why not just #outerra? Could always transfer over ownership to a forum mod or dev here if they're interested.

I've never seen anyone in #outerra, nor #outerra-unofficial before. Is it just bad luck with the time zones or just nobody cares? :P

Honestly.. I don't even know how to IRC anymore. Haven't used it in years. You need a client right? Then a master server?..

Yeah, you need a client, like mIRC or any other one. Then connect to one of these (http://www.quakenet.org/servers) servers and join #outerra. You might want to register (http://www.quakenet.org/help/q/how-to-register-an-account-with-q) a nickname, but it's not necessary.

There's an easy webchat link though. Automatically adds users to the #outerra channel as soon as they select a nick. Would be good to throw up on a subreddit or page somewhere for easy connections.
