He is using Leap Motion for hand input.
I tried the Leap and think it is not precise enough yet as a real tool for using a computer.
Don't know if its just the software or hardware or both, but i don't think we are there yet.

I also have the Leap Motion and you're right, it's good but not there yet.  I mainly use it with Painter just for fun, nothing serious.

 .. thats some gloves ... together with that "feeling" vest, it might be we will be having special cyclist-like tight clothing to play games in the future ... now, VR-paintball will be really bad, especially if someone hacks your protective-gear off of you during the game.
