Hi all,
I have made a TrackIR profile for anyone who wants to get their TIR going with OT. I will make a short video showing it off soon. It's a milestone, thanks for whomever delivered on the trackir plugin.
See attached file. Just put it in the TrackIR profiles folder.
Regards,
Kelvin

Awesome, cheers Kelvinr, I'll give it a go a little later when the sun buggers off. During the day it interferes with my TrackIR camera and its way too hot at the moment to block off the windows and therefore airflow. :)
-
Ok, here's a quick video using TrackIR with the profile I attached earlier.

Hey Kelvinr, I'm having a little trouble with your profile, actually trackir in general. Everytime I strafe my head I end up miles outside of the aircraft. How do I stop that?
It also happened to me with the default profile to so I created a copy and just disabled them. I really should learn how to modify these profiles properly. :-\
-
just heading off to bed for the night but the profile should work, when you're in Outerra press the windows key to get back to the desktop and open TrackIR and ensure the profile is showing as the active profile. You should be able to manipulate the axis movements and will update in realtime if you modify them to see which ones do what.

Hi Kelvinr,
I'm trying to get it to work as well with the 4459 version but with no succes so far.
I've also tried the trackir.dll plugin and placed it in the Outerra/plugins/ folder with no succes.
Is there maybe more we should do to get this working?
Any help is very much appreciated!
EDIT
I've found the problem and solution. I used your profile (and tweaked it a little bit with a little deadzone)
I've now used the experimental trackir plugin here: http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll (http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll)
The most important thing: You should place it into the installation directory Outerra/AnteWorld/plugins/ - you'll probably have to create it.
This did work like a charm for me with version 4459 and with the TrackIR 5.2 software!
Also a video that shows how awesome TrackIR works with the Outerra Engine. Thanks Kelvinr and Cameni!

using the plugin crashes my outerra on world load. maybe because im using 64bit windows?
-
It crashes because something has changed between the versions 4459 and the latest as before it did not crash. I have been real busy with work again causing some obstacles for me, this was one of them, in that I had not had time to log it.
-
Hi, okay! I'm using Freetrack instead now which works without the plugin, so that is a workaround until the dll gets fixed. Thank you for the explanation, saves me some troubleshooting. Please let me know if I can help trying out the new version whenever you get around to fixing it. :)
-
Found the problem, will be fixed in the next update.
-
Hmm... just updated to the latest version (4578), but still dont work with this dll. (work fine without the plugin) :'(
-
Try redownloading the pluign from http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll (http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll)
-
Updated to 4579 and redownloaded the plugin is solved the problem, thank you!
-
Oh, don't give up :)
Can you send the crash report from the MFG pedals?
TrackIR - just create a "plugins" folder in the OT installation directory and put the dll (http://ts3.cosaofficial.pl/opentrack/misc/outerra-tir-plugin-20131028.7z) there. Use Kelvin's TIR profile[/url to configure TIR. (http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=2476.0)
Warthog - are there two versions/firmwares for that thing? Because we added a workaround for FW bug specifically for this, but either the workaround does not activate or there's a different firmware that fixes the bug and now the workaround makes it worse ..
Can you elaborate on this a little for new users. I would like to use TrackIR5 in Outerra but cant seem to figure it out:-)
-
Navigate to your Anteworld installation directory (default: c:\program files (x86)\outerra\anteworld) and create folder named plugins there. Put the downloaded plugin (http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll) there.
You should now see a message in eng.log file that the plugin was loaded. If that's ok, it should already function, but follow the instructions from the top of this thread to set up the adjusted profile for TrackIR.
-
Hi all,
Sorry, I hadn't been ignoring your posts I've once again I've been inundated with work projects. Glad to see the Trackir up and working again.
-
The proper way to use TrackIR with Outerra is to smash it to pieces.
Given shoddy craftmanship, this isn't particularly hard.
Still, the license of the plugin allows for improper use. Those liberal hippy licenses...
-
Eventually we will just be using Oculus to drive the immersion not TrackIR :)
-
I agree.
Head tracking is undergoing a complete and total revolution.
Some of us aren't gonna make it, some of us will be decried the kings and the queens... This is our time.

Looks like the plugin is no longer available at that link. Is TIR still supported by that plugin? Can anyone re-upload?

This may not help you in any way;
I'm not sure what happened to that link but I sold my TrackIR as i'm now replacing it with the Oculus Rift, much more immersion.

I have restored the file - got lost during server move.

Works great! Thanks much!

These builds aren't provided by us, but here is a recent one:

thank you for your reply and sharing the file- it somewhat works - but is still impracticle in that when I pan my head to the left the view pans right and vice versa and I can't really move my head without the view moving rapidly and almost uncontrollably outside the aircraft, with difficulty getting back inside teh cockpit (especialy with teh pan ning in teh oposite direction it's supposed to goin etc)..is there any way to adjust the profile/plug in so when I pan my head to the left the view naturally pans left in the same direction and vice versa and that it doesn't move outside the aircraft with the slightest head movement (make it less sensitive etc)? Thank you anyone out there again!

TrackIR profile to use is in the first post of this thread.
-
you mean the OT.xml file and if so what am I supposed to do with that as that isn't the same format as the tir-trackir-plugin.dll file format we put in the plugins folder..? thanks again
-
Place the OT.xml file into the profile folder in TrackIR.
-
SO is this working any more? I have installed the OTX file into track IR and restarted it, I have made a plugins folder and put the latest dll in there. Anything I missing?
-
Please redownload the dll again (newer one), then check if eng.log contains a message about trackir plugin being loaded.
-
I have installed the demo version of outerra , the OT.xml file and the newest dll plugin put in the plugin folder. When I start up outerra I get a message "failed to load plugins/tir-trackir-plugin.dll" ..which is also in the eng.log. So what am I doing wrong ?
-
Please try new build of the trackir dll: http://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/tir-trackir-plugin.dll
-
Thanks a lot Cameni
track IR now works
-
I found that with the latest version of outerra track-IR has again stopped working (failed to load tir-trackir-plugin.dll ... no luck with both the older and the newer build) . Is there a way to get it working again ? I may even try to adjust it myself if I knew how to decompile it or have the source code. Using one hand on the mouse to look around while having the second hand on the joystick is a pain and landing on an aircraft carrier or flying combat missions in this way is near to impossible. Alternatively there should be the possibility to set up joystick hat switches to look around and control the plane with just one hand.

Here's the track-ir plugin code (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pA_gj2FlKvE4YVSjwiGQeqm0YKto6i1i).
(Not our code, but it's public domain)

Thank you very much cameni :) I will try what I can do to make it work again.
