Post by: Spartan46 on March 04, 2014, 10:32:55 pm
From halo wiki, the diameter of installation 04 is 10 000 km but because 3ds max didnt like the size, I put it 4500 but still very big lol

Im thinking... would it be possible to transform the outerra earth in halo? I mean like switching the ground side (facing the interior), cut the earth to make a ring and put walls for an halo

Wo!!! Look at the halo. It looks awesome from the surface of Earth. It really gives a perspective on its size and you said its less then half of what it supposed to be.

... you probably needed to reverse the height-render for terrain and do aether a ring-cut trough the Earth elevation and biome data (whyle finding a way to add the mechanical outer side of the Halo) - dont know how water should be handled, as its outwards ... yes, we need that definitely.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Also, i always wondered, why there isnt some kind of underground Hi-speed tram system on that thing (maybe because its a fortress and the flood could use it really speedy - but still).

How did you import something so big? I tried importing a moon and also tried mars. Outerra crashes.

From 3ds max, try to export it in .obj first! If you are getting errors, its too big! so reduce the size until there is no errors and after export it with opencollada

Hey this is great!

I do have a problem however, I can't seem to get the Ring into space. I spawn it in and the I try to move it up into space but it unselects the ring and I can't select it again. Any help?

If I remember, press v so you only have to click to unselect vertical moving

It's.. glorious.

I am however afraid to deselect after spawning it as I have run into problem in the past with gigantic models that have very, very miniscule selection radius, and you have to search up and down and all over the model with the mouse till you manage to click on it again, and well.. that would be tricky with this one :V
