Time for me to start a thread as well! :P
Anyway, I`m using the in-game video capture. After I`m done, I close OT waiting for the conversion window tou pop up.
It never does.
What am I missing? :-\

Does eng.log contain a line about launching the videomaker?
-
Nope.

It should be earlier before that part, look for "Launching videomaker.exe"
-
It does. Its way higher in the file.
INFO: Launching videomaker.exe F:\Outerra\Terrain DATA\videos\
-
Maybe the space in "Terrain DATA" makes the trouble.
-
Will renaming the folder mess up anything?
-
Rename it, and also edit data.cfg in the program directory, and you should be fine.
-
Renamed. Outerra works fine, but the converter won`t launch.
-
Ok, check that you have bin\video\videomaker.exe there, and you can run it, with the same argument as shown in the log.
-
The recorder is there but I can`t start it manually either!
-
Hmm, what Windows version is it?
-
What, you mean my windows?
Its windows 7 Ultimate (x64 bit) with the SP1.
-
Yea, I was wondering if there could be any incompatibility if you had an older Windows version. But I'm running the same Win version.
When you run it from command line, what error are you getting? Is there any message?
-
How do I do that? :-[
-
:)
that means you didn't run it with the required parameters as well ...
If you have open the explorer window where videomaker.exe is, hold shift and right click, select "open command window here"
Then type
videomaker.exe path
.. where path is what eng.log prints after videomaker.exe, a path to your video directory.
Oh, now I got an idea ... in eng.cfg you have paths for screenshots and videos - aren't they still with the space in the path?

Spot on. Changed that, launched from cmd and it worked! ;D
-
Wow I see the automatic eng.log expander is doing some mess when the text is quoted.
-
O_o lol It does yeah! Anyway, I`ll better document this problem and solution on the wiki.
Also, just to let you know, my eng.log is not in my C:\Users\<Your Account Name>\Outerra
Its in my TerrainDATA folder. Is this normal?

I tried to fix it, seems this could work.
Yea, that info is wrong. Eng.log is where user's data directory is, which is by default C:\Users\<Your Account Name>\Outerra. (technically it's not C: by default, rather the Windows installation drive, but that's C in 99.9%).
When people change their Outerra data directory, eng.log will be there too.

Fixed the wiki info

I did get the convert pop-up window when I quit, but after it opens the videos folder there's only a 0kb webm and the full y4m and vp8 files. Reran videomaker with the directory and as before it went through the conversion process but no webm was actually created.
-
Have you got wav files there as well?
-
Have you got wav files there as well?
No, but I've never been able to get Outerra to record my audio (tried the HD device thing).
-
VP8 files contain compressed video. After they are done, videomaker muxes it into the webm file with the audio. There's probably a problem with missing audio. Btw youtube accepts also vp8 files.
HD device - you mean setting the stereo mix as the default recording device?
-
If I drop a wav file with the same name in it converts it. Guess one of the updates made it need a sound file.
HD device - you mean setting the stereo mix as the default recording device?
Yes, the only options (including disabled) in my Playback tab are headphones and Realtek digital output. The Realtek option doesn't produce any sound despite the volume control saying otherwise.
-
... in my Playback tab ...
Not playback - you should be looking at the recording tab.
I'll check why it fails with no audio file present.
