As some of you have noticed, Angrypig (http://www.fmx.de/typo3temp/pics/a197904e9c.jpg) gave a presentation about Outerra at FMX 2014 conference in Stuttgart. We still didn't receive the recording from that session to share with you, but here's an excerpt from the presentation, using HTML5 with some "live" slides showing some of the procedural effects in use in OT:

(Tested. It works fine with Chrome and Opera :) )

Very cool indeed! Love the grass "growing" slides. :)

Works Fine in Firefox! I can hear him talking about it in my mind. Sound awesome.

Impressive presentation!! Keep up the good work and Outerra has a bright future ahead!

I always kind of wondered since I first saw it.... Why does the "rock displacement" pretty much only work outwards? Why doesn't it also work inwards... just to keep closer accuracy to terrain elevation? Like average it out closer to the default terrain instead of only pushing outwards (of course while making sure it doesn't cause weird kinks, spikes, or gaps).
-
Inwards are much rarer. It actually does both, but it's biased outwards because it looks better, more natural. You don't see many "rock holes" out there, since they are much more stable erosion-wise.

This is a really informative and thorough presentation.

Nice presentation. Very informative and ppl will know how hard things if you want real scale and effects

So much potential !

Is there a part 2?

I has not known about that. Thanks for info, Brano &. Laco! Very clear and dressed up presentation. :)

Is there a part 2?
There was some company info before these slides and some non-procedural engine info after, but they weren't so interesting & animated.

Great presentation. Understandable even for those who have no idea about everything shown there.
