Title: Strange artifacts, no textures.
Post by: xix on September 14, 2014, 07:05:53 am
I have a DK2 and heard how good this was with it, so DL the tech demo to try it. When entering the world I have strange moving block artifacts and the world is very washed out with no textures?

I have a HD7950 with the 12.1 drivers.

Any ideas?

Try updating to the latest AMD drivers. I am usign 14.7 RC3 (beta driver) - works better than the official 14.4 for me.

12.1 drivers are now probably too old for Outerra, there were lots of bug fixes in OpenGL since 2 years ago.

Oh sorry, 12.1 is my catalyst version not my driver version. I have the latest standard drivers from AMD but will install the beta driver and report back. Cheers!

Well, the beta drivers fixed it thanks.

I have the game running on DK2, but even turning down the graphics options I get horrendous judder if I look at anything but straight at the ground (only place I get 75fps).

If I look up, at the surroundings, even without moving, the framerate drops to around 55?!

A bit strange.

Try turning off the terrain/tree shadows and AO, they are a bit demanding.

Yeah I tried that, still the same framerate drop. It's unusual, because just facing the terrain, without moving or looking around, the framerate is static at around 55-ish.

I know my card is not cutting edge but it should be able to keep 75fps on this, surely>?

It's hard to reach 75fps with that card in stereo rendering, with 3D grass. What fps are you getting without Rift in FullHD mode?

It drops a bit when I look around, but other than that a pretty rock solid 60 fps. (that's with AO on and shadows turned on etc).
