Title: #outerra IRC Channel
Post by: Uriah on August 12, 2015, 08:10:31 pm
Hey everyone!

An official #outerra IRC channel has been added for real-time communications on the forum. While an IRC isn't the best solution, it works for now.

Link to #outerra (http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?action=chat) IRC Channel

To register a new nickname/username, login to the #outerra (http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?action=chat) channel using your desired nickname, and enter the following command:

Code: [Select]
/msg nickserv register <password> <email>
Example:
Code: [Select]
/msg nickserv register thiswillbeyourpassword john.doe@example.com
You will recieve an e-mail with the subject freenode Account Registration from noreply.support@freenode.net, check your Spam folder if you don't receive it. You must enter the confirmation code back in the IRC window to activate your new nickname.

If you need to change your password, you must sign in with your original one and enter:
Code: [Select]
/msg NickServ SET PASSWORD mynewpassword
If you forget your password, and need to reset it, enter:
Code: [Select]
/msg NickServ SENDPASS nickname
Additional information can be found here:
freenode: Frequently-Asked Questions (https://freenode.net/faq.shtml)
Getting Started with Freenode IRC (http://richard.esplins.org/siwi/2011/07/08/getting-started-freenode-irc/)

I will be assigning administrator privileges to preexisting Outerra Moderators and operator privileges to certain individuals in order to keep IRC channel running smoothly at all times.

Best regards,
Uriah

So i'd drop the channel on quakenet. I still think freenode is the wrong network, but if it's ok with the freenode staff i'm happy to remove a server from my irc client ;).

I never liked qnet. Its slower with registrating and many nicks are reserved. Actually it makes no difference for modern irc clients to handle more servers ;)

I don't like quakenet either, but afaik freenode is about open source, and outerra it's not.

I see. This question should be answered if there were more than 100 visitors in this #channel. Actually we are two.
