Title: No Man's Sky vs. Elite Dangerous vs. Star Citizen - What's the Difference?
Post by: HiFlyer on January 11, 2016, 10:35:59 am
Not only is the space sim, once considered a dead genre, back, but procedural generation seems to be everywhere!!

Outerra still appears to be unique, but where is it going? Not a space sim, it seems. Maybe a milsim? An open world Flightsim? (can flightsims be revived, like Space sims?)

A train sim? All of them at the same time? (a really tall order)

Where is our favorite procedural engine heading?

In the meantime take a look at some of the latest uses of proceduralism, and the different approaches.

Definitely not bad, but it feels somehow little sterile, nothing in it that I would remember because it triggered any emotions in me. For me best game soundtrack is Mass Effect 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuTcsGHfc1g  :)
