Title: Flight Simulator
Post by: digduggy on May 25, 2011, 06:47:28 pm
Hello there,
I am building a flight simulator right now, the hardware components are near complete, and I am very intrigued by this engine...

What type of rendering program do you use for the 3D objects?

Any plan on release for this program, and I would be intrerested in pursuing FAA certification of the sim.

Regards
Doug

All the answers you seek are in these forums. Starting from the bottom. Yes, a tech demo will be available soon and a purchasable game that will come out in Alpha form and be developed constantly as well. You should be able to practice once the flight systems/planes are added whether that be from the OT developers or as a standalone addon for the tech demo.

As for rendering it uses OpenGL but not sure if that was what you were asking.

I was thinking more along the lines of what program is used to create the 3D objects in the game, for instance if I wanted to build a helicopter object in it, what would be used? For instance blender?

You can use basically anything that can export COLLADA format, as we are importing that. We are using Blender as well.

If you wish we can discuss the possible use for the simulator in private, just send me a message via the profile.
