Title: El TanDEM-X 50m Forest / Non-Forest Map
Post by: aWac9 on May 11, 2019, 05:21:29 pm
A radar satellite, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has produced a map of forest areas around the world at a resolution of 50 meters, which includes for the first time a uniform description of tropical forests.
types of forests depending on the height, density and structure of the tree.

Only scientific use. TanDEM data are pricey ...

Fortunately we are already using 10m forest data derived from Sentinel multiband satellite data. Pics after embargo is lifted :)

Out of curiosity, is it more precise than using OSM?

OSM can be more precise, you can have individual tree positions or forest polygons, but the Sentinel-based forest data are far more consistent globally.
