Title: flashing lights for outerra (release)
Post by: fly77 on November 24, 2019, 05:06:35 am
It is my pleasure to share with you a set of blinking lights of different colours.

Each light is independent from the others so you can set up a set of lights of different colors and intensities
and different flashing frequencies to dislay complex blinking sequences. It is just a matter of switching on each blinklight
at the right moment to obtain the desired syncronized arbitrary blinking pattern
The light intensity also automatically adjusts to day/night conditions

download the set of blinking lights from here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uyvbf2vnejn6eax/AABsxBi1ix4uBW4X8KsF5Hj5a?dl=0

installation: click on self-installing blinklights.otx file

use:

1) spawn the light from vehicle menu. You will find the following "blinklights":

"blinklight-white"
"blinklight-yellow"
"blinklight-green"
"blinklight-red"
"blinklight-blue"

2) alternatively place them in a scenery from the scenery editor.
open outerra scenery editor (F7-key) under "assets" search for
"blinklight .. "

controls:

views:
once spawned you can switch between two different camera modes:

key C: external camera  (preferred !)

key V: fps internal camera

If you spawn the light from the vehicle menu it will be switched on by default and blink
alternatively for a light placed from the scenery editor go near the light and press ENTER
the light will be switched on nd blink. To swicth off/on a light (each one is independent from others) use

key L:  switch the light on/off

The blinking frequency is set by default at 0.5 Hz but can be regulated at will.

key K: increase blinking frequency

key J: decrease blinking frequency

The light intensity can be adjusted

key P: increase light intensity

key O: decrease light intensity

notes: For better visibility from far away distance place the lights near "reflecting" objects
such as the white wall-elements  of my box-set that you can download from here
https://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=4162.msg46058#msg46058

Also in outerra graphics settings menu (F1-key) set minimum object size to as small as possible value as your system admits (I used a setting of 1 for the video)

Is there a possibility to memorize the intensity of lights in an airport, exit and re-enter and find the same configuration?

you mean find the same settings again after exiting and re-entering outerra I guess. Hmmm. At the moment I don't know how to achieve this. Even vehicle config that can be brought up for instance for the tatra815-7 with "t" key seems to be only temporary and "evaporates" as soon as you reset the vehicle and even more so when exiting and reentering outerra. Don't know if it is possible in any way with the present outerra version. besides the outerra main menu settings everything else resets. Probably would need to have a .cfg file for each vehicle modifiable through an extra menu, such as you have in games where you can store your game setttings. I guess that unfortunately there will ne no such possibility until the gaming support will be more extended  :'(.

It is laborious to turn on all the lights. There should be a function to record mission and return to it once again.
hopefully that option exists over time
thanks

there may be a way to create a "cluster of lights" for SPECIFIC PURPOSES (e.g. runway flashing lights) and provide control keys to configure the "light-cluster" and I plan to do so, but wharever you do when you exit outerra it will be lost. For the moment we need to limit ourselfs to very simple configurations
