Title: Terrain coastlines in Outerra don't match terrain coastlines in Google Maps
Post by: jeffmorris on March 06, 2012, 06:01:46 am
I found out that terrain coastlines in Outerra don't match terrain coastlines in Google Maps. If you go to Staten Island, New York where there is Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the terrain coastlines don't match. Please fix the problem.

Coastlines aren't yet incorporated, what you see is just the outcome of fractal refinement over the discrete input height data.

Will you incorporate coastlines to the next version of Outerra?

It will be done some time in the future, it's not a trivial thing to add quick. Besides, it's not a pressing matter for the game anyway.

He he, no. Much more useful are rivers and lakes.  ;D

You know... You could try putting roads where rivers are and dig it down to below sea level...  So what if it's a deep canyon with a little bit of water at the bottom in most places...  ;D ;D ;D  ;)
