Title: Anyone played Wurm Online?

I think this game gets the closest to outerra at the moment in a way of rendering, dynamic weather, day and night cycle but most importantly: terraformable land
Wurm Online - building a house (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UffeI4MepAk#ws)
Everything in this game is player made and theres no NPCs other then guards, merchants, traders, enemy mobs, guides and bartenders.
It is a java based game started in 2003 and is being developed by swedish developer rolf janson. While it lacks lots of things like animations, character customization visible armour (they are in the works and should be released later this year) i think its a fun game and i recommend trying it out. It has about 30 skills all of them can be raised to 100
It has unlimited free trial and its only 10 euro for 2 months premium time. You can read more here:

I have played Wurm on and off for years. They've got a great mechanical basis but there has always been a severe lack of polish. I've always hoped that the game would  get picked up by a larger more experienced development team.

I'm hoping that Anteworld or whatever the game is called will become  something like Wurm, with finite resources, cutting down trees, changing the terrain by digging and dropping dirt.

I'd love to be able to equip a shovel and dig, lowering the terrain point height closest to where you stand and transferring that to your inventory. The terrain point height goes down by 0.1 and you now have 0.1 amount of dirt in your inventory. Dropping the dirt would raise the terrain point height by 0.1 closest to where you stand.

I agree with Tribs in that Anteworld should follow some of Wurm's gameplay mechanics, including finite resources. What I really want is for colonies to develop slowly. Usually in a game like Minecraft you can build a whole city in under a day with 3 guys alone, pretty boring once you reached the top...

By the way here is an older thread with some discussion on Wurm Online:
