Since these were at the tag end of a previous developer thread, I'll remake it here. Warning, all these have high separation compared to the developer thread, as I like a real "3D" effect and less "planes of depth" effect.
I was interested in knowing how easy it would be to make "3d" screenshots, and came away pretty surprised:
Looking down into the Grand Canyon:

Much higher shot showing a lot of of the canyon's details:

And just in case somebody wants them here are the original 3D bmp, 3D jpg, and cross-eyes bmps.

EDIT: Changed the images so they weren't popping out of the screen and instead go into it, added starting area.

Nice job, I really love the first one.
I guess it could be even better with a "depth" effect, rather than an "out of the screen" effect.

Is this kind of focus in front of the screen preferred by people? I find it uncomfortable, though I can see why it may be appealing.

No, I prefer into the screen too. I made the previous in about 5 minutes, using quick screenshots. I just didn't do any decent setup (I moved right to get the second screenshot) and didn't try to correct them in the 3D maker. This one's easier to focus on:
EDIT: no reason to display same image twice

Ok, changed the screenies to use a better focus. I believe they feel a lot better to look at now.
