Hi guys, we have added a new flight mode in UFO (free flight) mode, check the video to see how it behaves. Currently it can be controlled by mouse only, but we will add support for joystick axes too. This feature will be available in the next update.

This is ...
OMFG!
Cinematics will never be the same!
Not to mention it FEELS like a UFO (not that I know what a UFO flies like ... but ANYway!)
Very cool addition guys! And can't wait to try it out!

You better dont want to know ... if the soviet pilots are right ... well, 100 G´s at a turning point makes a little more mess as an paper-bag can handle :D
Still ... would like to switch whyte this guy someday : Avalon Air Show 2011 Saturday (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3wSDJDt6pE#)
P.S.: Angrypig, an werry nice thing to hawe in Outerra, a 1++ for that !

Very nice. I would turn off auto-rotate and use the rotation controls to 'roll' myself through the turns in UFO mode, glad to see I don't have to fake it anymore. :)

Thanks miss piggy...ähh.angrypig ;D

With this fan made trailers will be awesome !
-
Looks awesome. Looks kind of like a "smart helicopter" setup.
-
I am sick just watching the video... AWESOME!
-
Wow, that looks just like what I wanted! The fun of flying around, but with the physical freedom of UFO mode. Looking forward to it!
-
Meant to ask.. If you push it hard/fast enough and pull a move can you make the view do a barrel-roll?
-
Looks incredible!
...Could you perhaps make the tree hitting noise a bit softer? So instead of SH SH SH SH it is shshSHshShshShshsHhs
-
That's not the sound of hitting the trees. Those are the forest noises speed up like the cricket noises to simulate the dopplar effect.

First post here and new member of course. You guys are making an amazing job. I am a fanatic of game engines and i always wanted one just like this with this scale level.
I made my country in Cryengine 3 but in a 4 by 4 km size map and when i saw it here i was like "oh my god". Same with Wake island in a real scale map (a BF fan here also) but never finished it because i am a total novice at this (yeah a noob who likes this).
I´ll support this work because it has tons of possibilities in gaming industry and i want to see how it is going to evolve.
And i know it is a demo at the moment but we need more tools!!! I need to make those rivers. Add different layers, textures...etc.
keep it up!!

This is correct. It just sounds weird because in real life you can't "fly" that fast past something like crickets without dealing with or making crazy loud wind noise or jet engine sounds.. If you could fly through the air say from a cannon and somehow not hear the wind rushing past your head this is exactly what it would sound like..
Request.. Wind noise from movement speed. It may get annoying flying at low altitude but breaking atmo and having it fade away.. F'n Sweet.
-
dopplar effect.... doesn't that change frequency of the wave? So it would be a higher pitched noise?
It still sounds a little odd...
-
I agree. I don't think it sounds right either.
But also I think part of the strange sound (like the volume going up and down fairly evenly as you move around) is because that there are many locations that the sounds originate from, but all of them are creating sounds from a lot of real life sources, for example many crickets. The cricket sounds we hear aren't single crickets in many locations, but many crickets packed into one sound source in the engine and then copied all over the place. I wonder if getting many different (for variation) sound files of a single cricket and then laying them out in the world would make it sound a bit more realistic.
-
crickets sound pretty much the same, the annoying little bastards chirping away in the middle of the night safe in the skirting boards after they have escaped from the lizard tank.

Very nice. 8)
