What's Wrong with FPS Viewpoint & Why do Trees Disappear?

When I hit F1 I see the controls for ducking, sprinting, and jumping, but none of them work. There is no "gravity" when in "fps" mode just walking around.

Why is that, and when do you plan on fixing/adding it?

Also, when I'm in the middle of a bunch of trees and look almost straight up the trees disappear. Any clue what's going on with that one?

Honestly I could care less about helicopters and vehicles and such (with the exception of boats/ships which would be fantastic), but the fps view shortcomings are a real pain. I long to be able to literally climb a mountain, get on a ridge, admire the view...and then jump off. :P

That's not a fps mode, by default you are in UFO mode, defying gravity and all.

You can enable the fps mode by pressing key '8', it will place a rigid guy on the terrain. It's work in progress, not all stuff works and there are no animations. You'll also find that climbing the rocks currently submerges you into terrain, as the displaced terrain collisions don't work yet.

Trees disappearing - that's me still haven't fixed the bounding box of the terrain tile with trees to account for tree height. Pushing it higher in my TODO list :)

Omg thank you! I see now in the help where it says initially you are in UFO mode but I guess I missed where it said 8 puts you in fps (or did it?)

I see that. Hopefully this will be fixed soon!

On another note I *really* like how you've made my avatar visible when I look down (like in Mirror's Edge). Really helps immersion! Speaking of immersion, any plans to add some movement sounds? Snow/ice/gravel/sand/dirt/etc. crunching underfoot when walking/running would be killer.

Jumping makes me move forward. Any way to avoid that and just get a vertical jump? Or rather, WHY does it make me go forward?

Kind've unrelated, but I couldn't find the key to go fullscreen ANYWHERE, and it wasn't until I started digging in the .cfg files that I found a setting which enabled it. Did I miss it somewhere, or is it currently impossible to go fullscreen/windowed with hotkeys/menu commands?

Everything with that fps mode is just a very basic thing at the moment, we don't even advertise it in the help.

Fullscreen checkbox is located where it usually can be found, near the resolution selector in graphics settings. At the moment the change of graphics settings (except for the FOV) requires restart.

Has the 'walking' ability been disabled?
I'm struggling switching/activating the FPS walking view.
Pressing the '8' key isn't doing anything for me?

Minecraft has morphed into a pretty good system of energy hoarding. Mods enable multiple ways to gather, process and store energy. Random oil spouts you can tap, pump, store and then refine... Solar and wind.. Lava as a geothermal source of power.. Biomass. Nuclear.. Needing water for steam turbines.

I think a nice broad swath of choices would enable different regions to utilize local sources.
