Question / suggestion about new terrains to be loaded in Outerra
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:03:31 am »

Hi. Happy new year and... I've an question / suggestion. So - at the present moment I can see, that outerra very gracefully handles loading area of the Earth, as well as modification called Medem. So I came up with the idea, that if Google has a database of their maps and planets, you would somehow um ... convert some of them and load. Ingame. For example:
- Terrain map of Mars
- Terrain map Moon
Is it possible or rather will be? It would be very nice to ride some rover on the Moon, or on the Mars.

No it's not possible to convert Google maps, there would be insurmountable technical and legal problems. In theory it would be possible if we had access to Google Earth (not Maps) data, but again we could not do it without a license so it's irrelevant.

But Moon/Mars will be done using other raw, publicly available data, that are going to be processed into a dataset usable by OT.
