ISS Realtime ?
« on: October 22, 2014, 10:34:43 am »

Iwe been hearing to the UHF comm from the ISS crew taking a space-walk right now, catching it thanks to http://iss.de.astroviewer.net/. I just thought, since the position is tracked at several servers and sites, it would be interesting to put the ISS model at real-time position. Would be awesome looking at a fly-with cammera of the ISS at the Earth in OT whyle they talk out there.

P.S. : They usually use the 143.625 (most of the time as the russian side now has most operations on them due to the shuttle grounding). But there are several others too : http://www.issfanclub.com/frequencies Try checking it out if you have the equipment sometimes !

We are still undeveloped as long as we don´t realize, that all our science is still descriptive, and than beyond that description lies a whole new world we just haven´t even started to fully understand.

That would be cool. I really can't wait until we have a full SDK to script stuff like this. I also think it would be cool to add real time flights similar to http://www.flightradar24.com/ with the appropriate class of aircraft right in Outerra. Also things like procedural traffic from real time data sources would be killer, though I imagine that would still be a long ways off and would require the OSM road data implemented first. Weather patterns are another obvious addition with lots of data sources for clouds/precipitation/etc such as http://forecast.io/, though now I'm going off on a tangent! :)
