Hi! I found out about Outerra a few hours ago, and I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'm currently in a military training environment, so I'll have to wait. But being in this environment, as well as a fan of sandbox and MMO games, has sparked my interest for a program such as this.
Why am I so interested? The simple answer - I would love to play in a virtual environment equal to my reality. When GTA3 came out for PC, I learned to edit textures, names, etc., so it went from fake posters and cars to realistic versions. Being military, I constantly find myself away from family, but I spend at least a few minutes a day on Google Earth just looking at an overview of home, and thinking "soon I'll be back."
Thankfully, I'll be transitioning from military to civilian life soon, and I'm thinking a technology like this is a great way to "walk through the neighborhood" whether its moving with family, discovering the optimal routes for rides at an amusement park, or planning a hiking trip. I look forward to the progress of this project, and it would be neat to eventually "sim" my own household in a real world environment, instead of something extremely fictional like Wildstar's home builder.
