Two questions regarding collisions
« on: May 09, 2012, 01:21:06 am »

I have been playing the Alpha pretty frequently, and I have a couple questions regarding the physics.

1. Will static objects have collision meshes, so that I can't walk (or drive) through them?

2. The physics for the tires of the Tatra seem to work perfectly at slow to medium speeds, but start to phase through terrain the faster you move. The worst collision problem seems to be when you catch air and land, you will sink into the ground. What causes this? Is it the Tatra itself, or the terrain?

Cheers,
Chook

1. Yes, once there are collision meshes from the importer and when I implement the code needed to fast select candidates for the collision check.
2. There's a limit on the maximum reaction force the wheels can exert on the chassis. It has something to do with the stability of the simulation, but I think it could be much higher for the mass of the truck - I guess I didn't scale it properly. Will try to boost it for the next build.
