Teleportation to Space
« on: May 31, 2012, 10:08:22 pm »

So guys i just recently purchased Anteworld. All i've been doin is flying the cessna. Doin my fancy maneuvers. However i mastered a new trick. I.....teleport to space in my cessna and then proceed to crash. But it's all a good laugh because i can still see Earth :D

well i didnt know where to put this but...i hit the ground and then proceed by covering a large amount of distance and then i get my usually nvidia graphics crash. which is probably unrelated since i get those just flying around. I'm just saying i hit the ground a poof....im really far away.

Any overlays from external programs can lead to graphics driver crashes and bugs, as they interfere with the rendering. In OT the problem is even more prominent as we are using the GPU for computation of terrain data and reading back generated stuff for physics. If an external program injects there, it can corrupt the data. Being an OpenGL program it's apparently more common that these external programs do not handle the injection correctly.

I would really like to disable it, but that damn Windows architecture doesn't allow me to do it without making a rootkit first. We can't even properly detect if another program is messing up with our game loop  >:(

That's not cool of windows. But do you think the overlay has anything to do with my sudden jump in altitude? I think that when i hit the ground some numbers got mixed up and i got a very altitude.

Does the bug happen every time, sometimes or often?

It may be something else as well, I'm just saying that using such programs (or enabling their parts that interfere with the rendering) is the first thing to look at when things happen that do not normally happen to others, like a black screen, missing trees and parts of terrain.
That, and outdated graphics drivers.
