We should definitely name something after Carlin.

Hmm ... that's actually not a bad idea.  Will have to give it some thought.  Something's nagging me at the back of my cranium after I read this.  Hopefully much needed sleep will expose it!

Earth was decimated by "the big electron" around 250 years after the USS Outerra left to establish a new homeworld.

Or everyone got Carlin Syndrome and went mad.

Carlin Syndrome works for me, and is a cool Easter Egg :).  Could be a "quest" reward in Anteworld.  After investigating the ruin of a medical center, you're rewarded with a surviving record that gives a few details on the "syndrome," which was first contracted by someone named "John Doe Carlin." :)

I thought about a Moon-orbiting USS George Carlin, the last ship constructed by half-insane humanity to escape the wrath of the planet. Stopped there for a party ... :)
