buildmode needs a axis locked top view

it would be very helpful if we could lock the camera to a top-view and still be able to raise/lower it and pan it around. this way i could be more precise in placing roads along the Google map.

Try pressing shift-tab while in sandbox, should switch you to a GE-like panning mode.

I think that pressing shift-tab while in sandbox doesn't work. Pressing "W" and "S" keys raise/lower the camera instead of moving the camera forwards/backwards.

In that mode you pan with right click and mouse drag.

i still think that it needs a fixed topview (pointing to the earth center) that can be panned around and zoomed in out and is always aligned to the north. the big benefit would be to have open the google map and we can then easily trace roads, airfields or buildings without constantly having to work around perspective distortion
