Watercrafts (VTA Design)...
« on: December 18, 2012, 08:34:28 am »

Hi

I know the progress of the water environment is still in a early stage. But I'm looking forward to the progress of the water environment.

Here is the S-72 Puma a german Navy Fast Attack Craft.

We need to add more detail into the waves, some smaller ones. As soon as there's an object in the water with which the waves can be compared, it becomes obvious that the waves aren't fine enough ...

Hi Cameni. Yes, especially with smaller boats the waves looks pixelated.

It would be nice to have the opportunity, to set the wave height. And it would be nice, to have (later) a wind-dependent wave height as well for lower depths.

First test with my USS Churchill DDG. Model and textures are Work in Progress.

Model looks brilliant, however I would dirty up the textures slightly for added realism. Shame that the water doesn't look so good (repeating tiles, too transparent). Not sure if cameni and co are doing some more work on this at the moment or not. I saw somethign about improving the colour, but it would be great to see a better wave engine

Thank you Ozybolairy and Revolver. :)

@Ozybolairy, yes the textures have to look more weathered. And the model needs the bump and spec maps for more realistic look.

Great model Bart! :)
Can you actually move it around in the water, or is that not possible atm?

Hi Atrax

and thank you! ;)

No, unfortunately they are currently only static models. Once ships are officially supported, I'll make the ships driveable.

Cool, that will be awesome right? :D I'd like that submarine you made (at least I thinkit was you, if not I apologize to the creator), when it's controllable. Keep up the good work! ;)

Hi Marko,

nice to see some of your ships in this nice game-engine.  It would be very nice if the development of the maritime sector goes ahead. I think that outerra  offers very good prerequisites for a good ship simulator.   I would like to test the scenery creation tool for creating maritime environments. I think that could bring very good results.
