Another rendition of further tweaked textures, mainly grass with HD grass/dirt patches, rock, and sand.

...also, the most interesting thing about working on these textures is that the grass colour is dependant on the grass texture beneath it, so, it looks like Outerra will accommodate snow and dry brown grass (I.E different seasons) because the 3d grass will colour match the texture beneath it.

Ok, here are a couple of screenshots of the ground texture which illustrates the 3d grass colour toning based on the texture beneath. here I have Summer and Winter textures which I have colour matched to HD photographs of Summer and Winter photos. They could do with a little tweak but this is just to illustrate my basic point.

The devs are some really talented individuals

EDIT: I have added my recoloured spring texture as well just to give some contrast.

WINTER

That first one blew my mind. Very hard to do on the Outerra Forums. Now I can't wait for official biomes.

Well not sure about default 100% of the time but I wonder if he could make the two textures(or more) fade into each other based on the date via the new timeflow. So summer from one of the hemispheres will be accurate.

Then he would need to make the timeflow 250,000X to watch the seasons change.

The summer one is so cool. It actually fooled my family and everyone keeps asking me where the picture was taken. (I made it my desktop background)  ;D

I expect however this looks that it will be something in the line of "season flow" and would be awesome to see this dynamic change in the engine. Just can't wait to see those "sprites" be gone and 3d trees put in place  ::)

Yep that summer one is great. Going to put in on our facebook page if you don't mind :)

Winter .. snow will be actually separate layer (also sand could go here), so the grass beneath and sticking out through would still be green.
