cameni - what do you 'enjoy' using Outerra for? What would you like to experience in the future?

The engine is very impressive. Currently I am testing it in some bizarre ways...

I've sent a truck driving across a flat plain, then 'teleported' to a new destination for a minute or so...
Then when 'teleporting' back to the plain, I was impressed to see the truck had carried on it's journey having travelled a mile or so.
Originally I thought it would stop or even disappear. So this alone is impressive for future gaming concepts.

You may be able to help me with this one... I'm trying to test the gravity by dropping something from height, then teleporting to ground level and watching it fall... Unfortunately I can't seem to release anything at height? If I spawn a truck I end up in the cab at ground level?

I guess that teleporting is a bug with terrain collisions, that still haunts Outerra lands. Well, it's not a single bug, but multiple ones manifesting in a similar way.

When trying to spawn vehicles, they are always placed on the ground level. It would be possible to launch them from above, but the physics is still in development and it's not robust enough to handle all possible cases of people trying to crash it, so we at least place it safely ;)

That's easy! I enjoy using it for living. And I would like to experience it being finished one day :D

So how many more years work are needed to finish the engine to 90+%?

Is it a voluntary effort by you guys or is the project being financed?

Outerra is a bit similar to Dwarf Fortress in some way.
They are both going to be finished this century, but God knows when exactly.

(DF's 1.0 release date estimate is 2038, and it's developed since 2002, so that should give you a good scale of things)

Totally not. The game actually runs on CryEngine 3.
/sarcasm

YES, it IS in ASCII.
As with most proper roguelikes.
