Generating terrain
« on: December 02, 2010, 08:18:28 pm »

I have tried to do a game, driving simulation, but I encountered a problem. I was tried Unity3d and UDK, but I do not know how to generate at least one state, since the hard component could generate a whole EARTH: ), which is the easiest way? "Angrypig wrote you some time ago asking you to add him as an admin on the facebook group" - no problem  I will add it now:)

Um, sorry I don't understand your question, could you rephrase it?

I try to create a driving simulation, using UNITY 3D, how can I obtain or create HEGHTMAP for generating terrain, or how it is best to begin creating realistic terrain for games, is poverful UNITY 3D game engine, but I'm new to game programming and I know how to make a TERRAIN for a game that looks realistic,  . The only problem is that I know little C + + and C #, my biggest problem is start programming games, I do not know which engine to use, try UNITY 3D, but I do not know if it supports a good mesh system.

I'm not familiar with Unity3D, so the question if it's suitable for you should be probably asked on their forums. But terrain is usually prepared in another tool, such as Terragen - there is actually a multitude of such tools that can generate and export the terrain, but you probably want something that Unity3D supports out of the box.

Also, being quite popular, it probably comes with heaps of tutorials that can help you. It will be some time until we write some documentation for Outerra :)
