DAE Editor tool
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:10:23 am »

I'm trying to save time, find some tool with gui that will allow to
change dae structure without messing with text processor.
I tried ColladaAssetManager, but it crashes on start on win7.
All other tools i found are too old.

Why don't you use Max/Maya/Blender?

Ok i tell you example.

Say i have already done model.
Its a dae file, containing 6 different meshes,
which must be grouped in three groups (nodes).
Imagine i change something in this model in 3ds max.
Now i have to change the new dae file again, adding all those
nodes to group them again.
Usually i have to manually do that, every time i change something
i have to redo all DAE node hierarchy, every time. Every time.

Also adding to that repetitive annoying stuff:
every time you reimport model after to did some minor changes, it overwrites matlib,
even if i had not changed any material, and i have to save matlib every time before
i reimport something and replace the new with the old.

Not only can you use dummy, you can just group your objects in max and it will work too.
