Insectoïd ...
« on: September 21, 2013, 12:19:19 pm »

We were just testing an FBX import with the "old" 3DS model of an insect.
Many polygons/facets are removed because the converter that we use is in eval. mode and is suppressing randomly the geometry :D
At the end, the model becomes quite intricate because all the holes are creating an object more complex than the original one.
See how the shadows are well calculated and rendered. It's pretty nice (and weird at the same time)

;D  YES  especially because this thing is giant... it has a scale factor of 100 or more, its size is like a building : it is impressive and a bit scary I agree.
I must say that OT is doing very well with this. Seeing it from above at high altitude is super nice and very well rendered !

Question for Cameni and Angrypig however :
- when we fly around this insect, there is a lot of " flickering ", small black dots which are flashing a lot, on the shadows...
I assume it's because of the calculation, I don't know if this can be reduced a bit ?
or maybe our graphics parameters are not set the best way ?
I can upload the model anywhere if you need...
