Table Model [511 VENTAGLIO] *Updated on February 28, 2014
« on: February 27, 2014, 06:16:58 am »

Hello everyone!

Updates:
(February 28, 2014)

  • Tweaked the .mtl file to make it more reflective.

Today i'll share with you a simple table that i modeled like a year ago. I know that we don't have interiors yet, but here is it. You can find the real one here.

Maybe it looks small, but it isn't, the dimensions are precise because i used the drawings from their brochure :D.

And i also know that the textures aren't so nice, maybe looks a bit repetitive.

The real one:

Levi - those mercenary photos are the hammer.

 I. - WT ... what is ... where the hell ... ?? (and where is my RPG-7 ?)

II. Hmm ...  a nice wood finish doe.

 :D :D

Maybe they just need a little roughness and reflection texture mod, otherwise its nice.

:o i didn't notice there is no RPG-7 anymore! i don't know what in the hell happened with it, maybe a little bug...

And... yes maybe some roughness texture or normal map wouldn't be bad.

:D :D ... told ya ! There is magic involved in OT ... :D :D

-- Well, at first instances can happen, that it ist there (before you take control), or it vanishes at certain angles like the M4 optical device. Nothing bad there.  :)

A few notes to your model your nice desk model.

DXT1 format for textures is enough and you will safe a half memory in textures because we don't use alpha from albedo textures.

0.01 for F0 is too low, 0.04 gives you more natural and realistic look, i would use 0.05 because i real world there are at least two layers of materials wood and clear coat which in a way makes the material more reflective.

And don't afraid to use lower roughness let's say 0.5 should give natural reflections.

Hello Angrypig!

Damn, i knew it! I was about to save the textures in DXT1, but i don't even know why i saved them in DXT5, it happened very fast haha. Anyway thanks for clarifying me why DXT1 :) i'm pretty new in this area :D

I was playing with F0 and roughness, but i don't know why always it seemed for me very reflective... now I tried your recommendation: F0 : 0.05 and roughness 0.5 and i have to admit that it looks way better now :) Thanks for the tips Angrypig :)

Btw, if it were possible to reload .mtl files without having to restart the game and see the changes... maybe a little [reload] button there would be the best :)

Would be classy if objects could have dynamic material characteristics. (i could find a quite interesting use for that) Also, if there would be an dialog window like the vehicle script has for in-game change.

That is a really interesting table design Levi. I like the pattern the wood planks use to shape the table. It also kinda reminds of an American Aircraft Carrier.
