That's really cool! i had to make a quick test and it effectively smooth the same way as in max. Great to know.
I'm glad if I helped! :)

Another one is almost ready. I won`t release this yet. I don`t want you updating the .otx file every time! :P

Wow, another cool repaint! Great job!
Ok, you just keep doing more, and when I finish the gauges(because here is where new textures will be added), you can release your repaints. Is that ok?

What a cool idea to have user made custom paint. That second one look really nice John. I like the 50s look with bare metal on most of the plane.

Levi, nice job! I was surprised you converted it so quickly.
Btw is the paint supposed to be metallic?

You could make an otx containing just the repaint. All repaint files (skin) can be placed in a subfolder of the model, and if you make an otx and then open it in 7zip/winzip/winrar and remove everything else ...

No, I was actually going for a more dull/mate color on that second one....

Thanks Cameni!

I already wrote on the main post those instructions, but the problem is that I will change the .mtl file by adding more textures for the gauges needles and so.

Hm, it could still work if only the textures are changed, but their file names stay the same, and the mtl file is not modified by the repaint and not copied into the subfolder.

I meant the original Levi's paint here:

The metallic paint looks interesting, but it's quite unusual on a plane. Normal paint would reflect light like a plastic.

Maybe I didn't explained well. The problem is that no textures will be replaced, but added with new materials inside the .mtl file.

Yeah, you're right and maybe it looks a bit too metallic, I should tweak the mats next time for more realistic approach.

You will need to add a reflectance map to get both the bare metal and regular paint on the same uv texture. I did a quick test by editing the diffuse maps  and it could look like this

Wow, this is a very nice plane indeed, and those paintjobs are beautiful. It's easy to fly too.

@Levi, you said you used real measuremens/data. However, when I fly at about 7000/8000 feet it already has lost a lot of its power and starts stalling etc, while the ceiling should be somewhere around 25000 feet, according to its specs. Am I doing something wrong, or did you choose a bit different settings?

I think Outerra is going to cause a surge of people digging into Jsbsim.
